CAPD Fluid for Anti TB IgG

Testing CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) fluid for Anti-TB IgG antibodies is a diagnostic approach used when peritoneal tuberculosis (TB) is suspected in a patient on dialysis. The IgG antibodies are part of the body's immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for TB. To perform the test, a sample of the CAPD effluent (dialysate) is collected and analyzed for the presence of Anti-TB IgG antibodies, typically using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Elevated levels of these antibodies in the peritoneal fluid can suggest active or past TB infection in the peritoneum. However, this test is not definitive, and results are often interpreted in conjunction with other diagnostic methods, such as AFB smear, culture, or PCR, to confirm peritoneal TB.
