B2 - Microglobulin
B2-Microglobulin is a small protein found on the surface of many cells and is released into the blood when these cells break down. The B2-Microglobulin test is used to evaluate kidney function, particularly in conditions like chronic kidney disease (CKD) or kidney failure, as its levels rise when kidney function is impaired. It is also used as a marker for certain types of cancers (such as multiple myeloma or lymphoma) and in the monitoring of immune system disorders.
