Ascitic fluid for GeneXpert(MTB)
The Ascitic Fluid for GeneXpert (MTB) test is used to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) in ascitic fluid, particularly in cases of tuberculous peritonitis. GeneXpert is a rapid molecular diagnostic test that identifies the genetic material of TB bacteria and can also assess drug resistance. The ascitic fluid is obtained through paracentesis, where a needle is inserted into the abdomen to collect the fluid. The test is highly sensitive and provides quick results. Risks include mild discomfort or infection at the puncture site. A positive result confirms active TB infection in the abdomen.6000 BDT
