Ascitic Fluid for C/S
The Ascitic Fluid for C/S (Culture and Sensitivity) test involves collecting ascitic fluid from the abdomen to identify any bacterial, fungal, or other microbial infections. This test helps diagnose infections like spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP), commonly seen in patients with liver disease or cirrhosis. The fluid is obtained through paracentesis (a needle inserted into the abdomen) and cultured in a lab to identify the microorganism and determine the most effective antibiotic or treatment. Risks include mild discomfort or infection at the puncture site. A positive culture indicates an infection that requires targeted treatment.1200 BDT
