Vitreous Aspirate C/S for Fungus
The Vitreous Aspirate C/S for Fungus test is used to detect fungal infections in the vitreous humor of the eye, often in cases of endophthalmitis (infection inside the eye). A sample of vitreous fluid is obtained through an aspiration procedure, typically under sterile conditions. The sample is then cultured to identify any fungal organisms and determine the most effective antifungal treatment. No special preparation is usually required, but the procedure carries risks such as discomfort, infection, or damage to the eye.
