Vault Smear for C/S
The Vault Smear for C/S (Culture and Sensitivity) test is used to identify bacterial or fungal infections in the vaginal vault, typically after a hysterectomy. A sample is collected using a sterile swab from the vaginal vault and sent to a laboratory for culture. The test identifies the microorganism causing the infection and determines the most effective antibiotics or antifungal medications. No special preparation is usually required. Risks include mild discomfort or irritation during the swabbing process. A positive result indicates an infection, while a negative result suggests no microbial growth.
