Bronchoscopic Biopsy
A bronchoscopic biopsy is a procedure used to obtain a tissue sample from the lungs for diagnostic purposes. During a bronchoscopy, a flexible tube (bronchoscope) is inserted through the mouth or nose into the airways. A small biopsy tool is passed through the bronchoscope to collect a tissue sample from an abnormal area, such as a tumor or inflamed lung tissue. The sample is then examined under a microscope to diagnose conditions like lung cancer, infections, or interstitial lung disease. Risks include bleeding, infection, or discomfort.
