Anti-Scl-70
The Anti-Scl-70 test detects antibodies against topoisomerase I, an enzyme involved in DNA replication. These antibodies are primarily associated with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), a chronic autoimmune disease that causes hardening and scarring of the skin and internal organs. A positive Anti-Scl-70 test is often linked to the diffuse form of scleroderma, which tends to have a more severe course, including potential lung involvement. The test is performed with a blood sample, and risks are minimal, typically involving slight discomfort during the blood draw.
