Stapedial Reflex Threshold (SRT)
The **Stapedial Reflex Threshold (SRT)** is a test used to measure the response of the stapedius muscle in the middle ear to sound. This reflex occurs when loud sounds stimulate the ear, causing the stapedius muscle to contract and stiffen the ossicular chain (tiny bones in the ear). The SRT measures the lowest sound intensity (in decibels) at which this reflex is triggered. It is used to assess the integrity of the auditory system, particularly the middle ear, brainstem, and nerves.
