MRCP provides detailed images of the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts, helping diagnose conditions such as bile duct obstructions, gallstones, tumors, or pancreatitis. During the procedure, the patient lies on a table, and the upper abdomen is positioned in the MRI machine, which uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves. No special preparation is usually required, though fasting may be necessary for a few hours.
