MRI of Ears
MRI of the ears is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to examine the internal structures of the ear, including the middle ear, inner ear, auditory nerve, and surrounding tissues. It helps diagnose conditions affecting hearing and balance, particularly when other imaging techniques like CT scans or X-rays are insufficient. Common conditions evaluated include sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, acoustic neuromas, Meniere’s disease, labyrinthitis, congenital abnormalities, cholesteatomas, and temporal bone fractures. The MRI procedure involves lying still in the scanner while detailed images are captured using magnetic fields and radio waves. Contrast dye may be used to enhance tissue visibility. Risks are minimal, including mild discomfort and rare allergic reactions to contrast dye.10000 BDT
