MRI of Dementia Protocol
MRI of the dementia protocol is used to evaluate the brain in patients with dementia symptoms. It identifies structural changes associated with various types of dementia, such as Alzheimer's, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. The protocol includes standard MRI sequences (T1, T2, FLAIR) to detect brain atrophy, volumetric imaging to measure brain volume loss, and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) to assess white matter integrity. Contrast-enhanced MRI may also be used to rule out other causes like tumors.
