MRI & MRS of Brain
MRI & MRS of the brain is an advanced imaging procedure that combines two techniques to assess both the structure and metabolic activity of the brain. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) provides detailed images of the brain’s anatomy, helping diagnose conditions like tumors, strokes, or neurodegenerative diseases. MRS (Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy) measures the chemical composition of brain tissues, assessing metabolites like choline, creatine, and N-acetylaspartate, which can help identify abnormalities such as cancer, infections, or metabolic disorders. During the procedure, you will lie still in an MRI scanner, and a contrast dye may be used to enhance the images. Fasting is typically not necessary, though it may be required if contrast is used. Risks include allergic reactions to contrast dye and mild discomfort from staying still. This combined approach offers a comprehensive view of both structural and metabolic brain health.12000 BDT
