Interleukin-6
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine involved in inflammation and immune response. Testing IL-6 levels helps diagnose and monitor conditions like infections, autoimmune diseases, and chronic inflammation. A blood sample is taken, usually without special preparation, with minimal risks. High IL-6 levels indicate inflammation or immune dysregulation, while low levels are generally normal.
