Insulin(Fasting)
Insulin (Fasting) is a blood test that measures insulin levels after an overnight fast, used to assess pancreatic function, insulin resistance, or diabetes risk. By evaluating fasting insulin alongside glucose levels, it helps calculate the HOMA-IR index for insulin resistance. A blood sample is drawn from a vein after 8–12 hours of fasting (water is allowed). The test requires strict adherence to fasting for accuracy. High fasting insulin levels suggest insulin resistance or conditions like metabolic syndrome, while low levels may indicate insufficient insulin production. Stress, illness, or medications can impact results, so informing the healthcare provider of recent factors is essential.1400 BDT
