CT Scan of Orbits
A CT scan of the orbits is used to evaluate the eye sockets and surrounding structures, helping diagnose conditions like fractures, tumors, infections, or abnormalities in the eyes or bones around them. During the procedure, you will lie on a table while the scanner takes detailed cross-sectional images of the eye sockets (orbits). Preparation involves removing metal objects, such as jewelry or glasses. The scan is painless, but contrast dye may be used to improve image clarity. Risks include allergic reactions to contrast dye and radiation exposure. Results are interpreted by analyzing the images for fractures, tumors, or other issues.
