Random Plasma glucose
The Random Plasma Glucose test measures blood sugar levels at any time, regardless of meals. It helps diagnose diabetes or monitor existing conditions. No special preparation is needed. A blood sample is taken via a fingerstick or vein. During the test, you may feel a slight prick. Risks are minimal, but include slight discomfort or bruising at the puncture site. Results are interpreted as follows: normal is below 140 mg/dL, prediabetes is 140-199 mg/dL, and diabetes is 200 mg/dL or higher.
