Postprandial Plasma glucose

Postprandial plasma glucose refers to the blood glucose level measured after eating, typically 2 hours following a meal. It helps evaluate how well the body processes glucose after food intake. Normal postprandial glucose levels should be below 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L). Elevated levels may indicate impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes. A high postprandial glucose level can be a sign of poor insulin function or insulin resistance, particularly in individuals with type 2 diabetes. This test is often used in combination with fasting blood glucose levels to diagnose and manage diabetes and other metabolic conditions.
