Nasal Scrapping for Hensens Bacilli
This test detects Mycobacterium leprae, the bacteria responsible for leprosy. Preparation involves cleaning the nostrils to obtain a clear sample. During the test, a healthcare provider uses a sterile instrument to scrape the inside of the nostrils. Risks are minimal but may include slight discomfort or irritation. After the test, no special care is needed. Results show the presence of M. leprae, confirming or ruling out leprosy.
