Transferrin saturation test(Tsat)
The Transferrin Saturation (Tsat) test measures the percentage of transferrin, a protein that carries iron in the blood, bound to iron. This test helps assess iron levels and diagnose conditions like iron deficiency anemia or iron overload disorders. No special preparation is needed, and a blood sample is drawn from a vein. Risks include mild discomfort, bruising, or infection at the puncture site. Low Tsat levels suggest iron deficiency, while high levels may indicate iron overload.
