Pleural Fluid for Anti TB IgA
Pleural fluid for Anti-TB IgA testing is used to detect the presence of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies specific to tuberculosis (TB) in the pleural space. This test helps diagnose TB-related pleural effusion when other tests, like AFB smear or culture, are inconclusive or negative. A sample of pleural fluid is collected via thoracentesis, and the fluid is tested for the presence of Anti-TB IgA antibodies. Elevated levels may indicate a TB infection. Risks include infection, bleeding, or lung puncture from the thoracentesis procedure. The results help support a diagnosis of TB and guide treatment, particularly when other TB markers are not present.1400 BDT
