Cardiac Troponin I (ES)
Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) is a protein found in heart muscle cells that plays a key role in muscle contraction. It is released into the bloodstream when heart muscle cells are damaged, making it a sensitive and specific biomarker for detecting heart injury, such as in myocardial infarction (heart attack). The ES (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) test is one method used to measure the levels of cardiac troponin I in the blood. Elevated levels of cTnI indicate heart damage, with high levels commonly seen in acute myocardial infarction. Troponin I testing is crucial for diagnosing heart attacks, monitoring treatment, and assessing the severity of cardiac injury. Results should be interpreted alongside clinical findings, as elevated troponin levels can also occur in conditions like heart failure, myocarditis, or severe arrhythmias.1200 BDT
