CAPD Fluid for Anti TB IgA
Testing CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) fluid for Anti-TB IgA is done when there is suspicion of peritoneal tuberculosis (TB) in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. The presence of Anti-TB IgA antibodies in the dialysate can suggest an immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in the peritoneum. The test involves collecting a sample of the CAPD effluent and analyzing it for the presence of IgA antibodies against tuberculosis. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is commonly used for detecting these antibodies. A positive result can help confirm peritoneal TB, although it may be used alongside other diagnostic tests, such as AFB smear, culture, and PCR, for a more comprehensive diagnosis.1400 BDT
