Blood for C/S (FAN Method) (C) refers to the process of collecting a blood sample to culture and identify both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, with specific attention to culturable microorganisms that are difficult to isolate. The FAN Method (C) allows for a comprehensive analysis of bacterial growth in the bloodstream, which helps diagnose severe systemic infections like sepsis or infections from deep tissues. The test is particularly useful for detecting anaerobic bacteria. A blood sample is taken, cultured in both oxygen-rich and oxygen-deprived environments, and tested for bacterial growth and antibiotic sensitivity.
