Sub dural Fluid for C/S
A subdural fluid culture and sensitivity (C/S) test is used to identify bacterial or fungal infections in the subdural space, typically associated with subdural abscesses or meningitis. The procedure involves collecting a sample of subdural fluid, which may be obtained through aspiration or a surgical procedure if there is a collection of fluid (subdural effusion or abscess). The sample is cultured in a laboratory to identify any pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, or mycobacteria. The sensitivity part of the test determines which antibiotics or antifungal drugs are effective against the identified pathogens. This test is crucial for diagnosing and guiding treatment for infections like subdural abscesses or bacterial meningitis. Results can take several days, as bacterial cultures typically require time to grow. Fungal or mycobacterial cultures may take longer to yield results.1500 BDT
