SSF (Superficial Scraping for Fungi) from the axilla (armpit) is a diagnostic test used to detect fungal infections in the skin folds of the armpit. This test involves scraping a sample from the affected area of the skin, which is then sent to a laboratory for culture. Common fungal infections in this area include Candida (yeast infections) and dermatophyte infections like tinea corporis (ringworm). The culture allows the fungi to grow, and sensitivity testing may be performed to identify the most effective antifungal treatment.
