Renin (Upright)
The Upright Renin test measures renin levels in blood while the patient is standing, helping evaluate kidney function and blood pressure regulation. The test involves drawing blood while lying down, followed by the patient standing for 10–15 minutes, and another blood sample is taken. No special preparation is required, but fasting may be recommended. Risks are minimal, with slight discomfort or bruising at the blood draw site. Elevated renin can indicate conditions like dehydration or kidney disease, while low levels may suggest issues like adrenal insufficiency.
