Protein S
The Protein S test measures the level of Protein S in the blood, a key component for regulating blood clotting. It helps diagnose conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE). No special preparation is needed, but fasting may be required. A blood sample is drawn, and the test takes only a few minutes. Risks include minor bruising or discomfort. Low Protein S levels can indicate a clotting disorder. Results are interpreted by comparing levels to normal ranges, with lower-than-normal levels indicating a higher risk of abnormal clot formation.
