Magnetic Resonance Venography (MRV) of the Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) and Portal Vein is an imaging technique used to evaluate the blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood from the lower body (IVC) and the veins draining the digestive organs (portal vein). This procedure helps diagnose conditions like blood clots, stenosis, thrombosis, or vascular malformations in these veins. During the scan, the patient lies on a table, and the abdomen is positioned inside the MRI machine. MRV uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed, non-invasive images, often with a contrast agent to improve visualization.
