MRS of Brain
Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) of the brain is a specialized imaging technique used to measure the chemical composition of brain tissues. Unlike a standard MRI, which provides structural images, MRS analyzes metabolites in the brain, helping diagnose conditions like brain tumors, epilepsy, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases. During the procedure, a patient lies on a table, and the head is placed inside the MRI machine. MRS uses magnetic fields and radio waves to detect and quantify substances like choline, creatine, N-acetylaspartate (NAA), and lactate.
