MRI of both breasts is a detailed imaging procedure used to evaluate breast tissue, especially in cases where other imaging methods, like mammography or ultrasound, may not provide enough information. It is commonly used for assessing breast cancer, detecting hidden tumors, evaluating breast implants, or monitoring known conditions like fibrocystic changes or benign lumps. During the procedure, you will lie face down on a special MRI table with openings for the breasts. A contrast dye may be injected to enhance image clarity. No special preparation is usually required, though fasting might be advised if contrast is used. Risks are minimal but may include allergic reactions to the contrast dye and mild discomfort from lying still.
