It helps diagnose conditions related to chronic constipation, fecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, or pelvic floor dysfunction. The test involves the insertion of a contrast agent (usually a gel) into the rectum to enhance imaging and observe how the pelvic floor muscles function during the process of bowel movement.
