Liquid Based Cytology(LBC)
Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC) is a technique used for collecting and preparing cells from the cervix to screen for cervical cancer and other abnormalities. During a Pap test, cells are collected from the cervix using a brush or spatula and then suspended in a liquid solution. This method helps improve cell preservation, reduces contamination, and provides clearer results compared to traditional Pap smears. LBC is used to detect precancerous changes, infections, or inflammation. Risks are minimal, including slight discomfort during sample collection.
