H. Pylori - IgG
The H. pylori IgG test detects antibodies to Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium linked to peptic ulcers and gastritis. This blood test indicates past or current exposure to the bacterium. It requires a small blood sample, typically drawn from a vein in the arm. No fasting or special preparation is necessary. While a positive result suggests exposure to H. pylori, it does not differentiate between active or past infections. Additional tests, like a urea breath test or stool antigen test, may be needed for confirmation. The procedure is low-risk, with slight bruising at the blood draw site as the most common side effect.
