The Fetal Biophysical Profile (BPP) (F709) is a prenatal test used to assess the well-being of a fetus, typically in high-risk pregnancies or when there are concerns about fetal health. The test evaluates five key components: fetal heart rate (via a non-stress test), fetal movements, fetal breathing movements, muscle tone, and the amount of amniotic fluid. Each of these parameters is scored, and the total score helps determine the fetus’s health. A score of 8-10 is usually considered reassuring, while a lower score may indicate the need for further monitoring or medical intervention.
