A Cervical Smear for C/S (Culture and Sensitivity) is a test performed to detect infections of the cervix, such as bacterial or fungal infections. During the procedure, a sample is collected from the cervix and cultured in a laboratory to identify any microorganisms, such as bacteria (e.g., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis) or fungi (e.g., Candida). After identifying the pathogen, a sensitivity test is performed to determine which antibiotics or antifungal agents are most effective for treatment. This test helps diagnose infections causing symptoms like vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, or abnormal bleeding and guides appropriate treatment.1500 BDT
