Broncho-alveolai Lavage for C/S
Broncho-alveolar Lavage (BAL) for C/S (Culture and Sensitivity) is a diagnostic procedure used to identify infections in the lungs. During bronchoscopy, a sterile saline solution is introduced into the alveoli (the tiny air sacs in the lungs) and then suctioned out to collect a sample of lung fluid. This sample is sent to a lab for culture, where it is tested for bacterial, fungal, or viral pathogens. Sensitivity testing helps determine which antibiotics or antifungal medications will be most effective. BAL for C/S is often used to diagnose conditions like pneumonia, bronchitis, or fungal infections. Risks include infection, bleeding, and discomfort.1500 BDT
