Anti-Tissue-Transglutaminase IgA
The Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (Anti-tTG IgA) test detects antibodies against tissue transglutaminase, an enzyme involved in the repair of damaged tissues. High levels of these antibodies are commonly associated with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder in which the ingestion of gluten damages the small intestine lining. The test is used to diagnose celiac disease in individuals who have symptoms such as digestive issues, fatigue, or skin rashes. It is performed using a blood sample, and the risks are minimal, usually limited to slight discomfort during the blood draw.
