Anti-Nuclear Ab (ANA)
The Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA) test detects antibodies that target the nucleus of cells. ANA are often present in autoimmune diseases, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues. A positive ANA test is commonly associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, and other autoimmune conditions. However, a positive result alone is not diagnostic and must be interpreted in the context of clinical symptoms.
