Abscess Fluid for Anti-TB IgM is a test used to detect IgM antibodies against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in fluid obtained from an abscess. IgM antibodies are typically the first response by the immune system to a new infection, and their presence suggests an acute or recent TB infection. This test is useful for diagnosing extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB outside the lungs), such as lymphadenitis or tuberculous abscesses. The fluid is collected and analyzed in a laboratory.
