MRI of Brachial Plexus

MRI of the brachial plexus is an imaging procedure used to assess the network of nerves that control movement and sensation in the shoulder, arm, and hand. It helps diagnose conditions such as nerve injuries, tumors, inflammation, or disorders like brachial plexopathy, which can result from trauma, compression, or infections. During the procedure, you will lie still inside an MRI scanner, and a contrast dye may be injected to enhance the clarity of the images, particularly for soft tissues. No special preparation is typically required, though fasting may be needed if contrast is used. Risks are minimal but include allergic reactions to the contrast dye and mild discomfort from staying still. The results provide detailed information about the brachial plexus to guide diagnosis and treatment.
