Anti-CCP
The Anti-CCP (Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide) antibody test detects the presence of autoantibodies that target citrullinated proteins, which are commonly found in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A positive result is highly suggestive of RA, especially when combined with clinical symptoms like joint pain and swelling. Anti-CCP antibodies are considered more specific for RA than other rheumatoid markers, such as rheumatoid factor (RF). The test is performed with a blood sample, and the risks are minimal, typically limited to slight discomfort during the blood draw.
