Tuberculin Test (0.1 ml = 10 TU)

The Tuberculin Test (0.1 ml = 10 TU) is a skin test used to detect tuberculosis (TB) exposure. It involves injecting a small amount of purified protein derivative (PPD) under the skin of the forearm. No special preparation is needed. After 48-72 hours, the test site is checked for a reaction, typically a raised bump, indicating possible TB exposure. Risks include mild pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site. A positive result may suggest TB exposure, while a negative result usually indicates no infection. Follow-up testing or evaluation may be required. Normal activities can resume after the test.
