Stool Routine Examination

A stool routine examination is a basic diagnostic test used to evaluate the general health of the digestive system. It involves analyzing a stool sample for several factors, such as: Color and Consistency: To check for abnormalities like diarrhea or constipation. Microscopic Examination: To detect the presence of parasites (e.g., Giardia, Entamoeba histolytica), eggs, cysts, or worms. Presence of Blood or Mucus: To identify gastrointestinal bleeding or inflammatory conditions. Pus Cells or White Blood Cells: Indicating infections or inflammation in the intestines. Fat Content: Excess fat can indicate malabsorption disorders. Bacteria: Screening for pathogenic bacteria, such as Salmonella or Shigella. Results from a routine stool examination can help diagnose infections, malabsorption issues, inflammatory bowel disease, or other gastrointestinal problems. Results are usually available within 1-2 days.
