MRI of Fistula gram

MRI of a fistulogram is a specialized imaging procedure used to examine abnormal connections (fistulas) between body cavities or between an organ and the skin. It helps assess conditions like perianal fistulas, rectovaginal fistulas, enterocutaneous fistulas, and urinary fistulas, often caused by infections, surgery, or diseases like Crohn's. The procedure involves injecting a contrast dye into the fistula tract, making it visible on MRI scans to determine its size, location, and complexity. The scan usually takes 30-60 minutes, and while no special preparation is typically needed, fasting may be required if contrast is used. The procedure is safe with minimal risks, such as mild discomfort or rare allergic reactions to the contrast dye.
