MCHC

MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration) is a measure of the average concentration of hemoglobin in a given volume of red blood cells. It is part of a routine complete blood count (CBC) and helps evaluate the blood’s oxygen-carrying capacity. MCHC is calculated by dividing the amount of hemoglobin by the volume of red blood cells. Normal levels are usually between 32–36 g/dL. Low MCHC can indicate hypochromic anemia (low hemoglobin concentration), while high MCHC can be a sign of conditions like hereditary spherocytosis or dehydration. The test is done with a blood sample, and results help in diagnosing various blood disorders.
