GTT 4th

A 4-hour Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) is a less common procedure that evaluates prolonged glucose metabolism, typically in specific or rare cases of abnormal glucose regulation. The patient fasts for 8–12 hours, and a fasting blood sample is drawn. After consuming a glucose solution (typically 100g), blood samples are collected at multiple intervals, including 1-hour, 2-hour, 3-hour, and 4-hour marks. Persistently elevated glucose levels may indicate impaired glucose metabolism or specific endocrine disorders. Risks include nausea, dizziness, or bruising. Proper preparation is crucial, as stress, illness, or medications can affect results. Data is compared to standard thresholds to assess glucose tolerance over time.
