CT Scan of Undescending Testis

A CT scan of an undescended testis is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to locate a testis that has failed to descend into the scrotum, a condition known as cryptorchidism. The scan involves the patient lying on a table while X-ray beams create cross-sectional images of the abdomen and pelvis. These images help identify the location of the undescended testis, which may be in the abdomen, inguinal canal, or elsewhere. Preparation typically involves fasting for a few hours before the procedure. While CT scans are generally safe, radiation exposure and potential allergic reactions to contrast agents are minor risks. Results assist in surgical planning or monitoring.
