Cortisol level 1hr After Injection

The Cortisol Level 1 Hr After Injection test measures the cortisol concentration in the blood one hour after an ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) injection. This is part of the ACTH Stimulation Test, which assesses the adrenal glands’ ability to produce cortisol in response to stimulation by ACTH. Normally, cortisol levels should significantly increase within an hour after the injection. If cortisol levels do not rise as expected, it may indicate adrenal insufficiency, such as in Addison’s disease or secondary adrenal insufficiency. The test is helpful in diagnosing hypofunctioning adrenal glands and evaluating the body’s stress response and hormonal balance.
