Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)

The Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) test measures the level of AMH in the blood, which is produced by the ovaries. AMH is a marker of ovarian reserve, or the number of remaining eggs in a woman's ovaries. It is commonly used to assess fertility, especially in women considering assisted reproductive technology (ART) or those who may be at risk for early menopause. Low AMH levels may indicate a reduced ovarian reserve, while high levels can be associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The test is performed with a blood sample, and risks are minimal, typically involving slight discomfort during the blood draw.
